This week, the letter is “Y”. There are a lot of words that I could have used for this week’s positive thought, but I thought a great word would by “Young.” Many years ago, a minister, during his service, asked a question: “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?” What a great question.
I have known many people who died at the age of 25. Of course, they are still walking around and breathing the air, but they quit living and growing many years ago. They live a mundane life, going from the moment they wake until the moment they go back to sleep, accomplishing nothing. They get old long before they ARE old.
I have always said that age is between the ears; a matter of attitude. If one keeps a young mind and attitude, they will stay younger, longer.
Toby Keith was playing golf with Clint Eastwood not too long ago, and Mr. Eastwood mentioned that he would be turning 88 the following Monday. When Toby asked what he was going to do, Clint said that he would be shooting a movie. When Toby asked how he can still be starring and directing movies at age 88, Clint just answered, “I get out of bed in the morning, and I don’t let the old man in.”
The movie was “The Mule.” Toby Keith wrote a song titled “Don’t let the Old Man In” and sent it to Clint Eastwood, who used it in the movie. Part of the lyrics asked the same question as above: “How old would you be if you didn’t know the day you were born.”
Take a couple of minutes and watch the video of the song.
Make every minute of your life count. Keep that positive attitude, laugh, have some fun and you will live longer and happier.
