Today the word is “Gratitude.” We should all be thankful for what we have, even if it is not everything we want. Jim Rohn said that we should be grateful for what we have while in pursuit of what we want. We have become a society where people want everything today. That’s why people buy cheap products, eventually needing to replace them, instead of waiting a bit until they can afford something that will not break two days after the warranty expires.
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
It is better to say thank you and not mean it, than to mean in and not say it. People are always ready to complain in a heartbeat, but rarely take the time to compliment someone. When you get exceptional service from someone, ask to see the manager. They will be expecting a complaint. You won’t believe the reaction you get when you tell them how good your server or salesclerk was.
So, next time you see someone without a smile, giver them yours. They will probably give it right back to you.
