Positive Thought for the Week of August 3, 2020

Well, we made it through the alphabet.  Now, I will just present positive thoughts at random, or tied into what is going on in the world.

“Work-life balance is not something we can find. That’s because we use words as if this balance were a noun when in reality it’s an action verb. We cannot find balance because it’s a continual action with ongoing adjustments, just like the tightrope walker who constantly moves his pole to keep from falling”

― Tina Hallis, Sharpen Your Positive Edge: Shifting Your Thoughts for More Positivity and Success

We often hear about leading a balanced life, but what does that really mean?  Things that I have read over the years lead me to believe that our life’s balance is like the spokes on a bicycle. If you spend too much time on one spoke, your wheel gets out of balance. Take a look at this balanced wheel to see what some of those areas are. If you are retired, then a category like career needs to be changed to hobbies or personal activities.

If one becomes over absorbed in religion and ignores their need for family and friends, their life becomes unbalanced. If you sit around reading books or watching TV, but never get up to exercise, you are out of balance. Even a balanced diet is important.  If you get too out of balance, then your life’s wheel will be totally out of balance as well, and your wheel will stop spinning.

Take a few minutes to really determine if your wheel is turning well, or if your wheel might need some realignment.
